Moor Mead U8s - 3g'tastic

Moor Mead U8s returned to the 3G pitches at Leatherhead with some concern having suffered a heavy defeat earlier in the season. The pitch side mini-stadium, the 3G pitch (new to many) and the Chelsea scouts milling around could have been intimidating to the TW1 based outfit.

The boys seem to take on board the coach's suggestion of trying to play short, early passes and it lead to a very good passing display from the visitors. They showed good strength on the ball against a physically strong Leatherhead side. Despite being 2-0 and 3-1 down, Moor Mead continued to play passing football and in the fourth quarter, two goals from Toby D secured a 4-3 victory for Moor Mead. Well done Fred M, Paddy, Sam C, Sammie, Jack BS, and Toby D.

The game brought the curtain down on an enjoyable first league season where Moor Mead won more than they lost and whose game developed throughout the season. June sees the team enter two teams into the NPL tournament. Many thanks to Simon for sorting out all the league administration and arranging the fixtures.

The age group has continued to offer friendly matches against Sheen Lions and a fixture is scheduled for Saturday 7th May. We will look to play friendlies next season - any team interested in a friendly, particularly at the development level ,should contact will.hayes81@googlemail.com
