Cosmos tastes first defeat

Match Report: Moor Mead Cosmos vs Woodmansterne Hyde Colts

Moor Mead Cosmos finally tasted their first defeat of the season against a burly Colts team, who had the wind in their sails after a couple of lucky goals, and ended up winners 5 -2.

Cosmos started the brighter, and took a deserving lead through Gabriel who worried constantly down the left hand side and combined well with Jamie and Tye, who both had an excellent first half. Woodmansterne got a goal back after the ball dubiously crossed the line in a goal mouth scramble before Harry scored again with a cross/ shot to make it 2 - 1 at half time.

All good, except in the second half WHC had the slope and the wind and it proved our undoing. Their crossing and set pieces were excellent and we are not used to dealing with them - corner practice on Thursday is beckoning. We lost a little in midfield again and the abundance of wingers are proving a problem. Freddie was super in the centre but he needed support, although the WHC goals though all came from crosses into the box and deflections or headers, apart from a cracking one which came about when they broke through the lines.

They managed to score 4 goals in the second half and we only threatened little, but we still had some chances and both Tom and Gabriel nearly bagged an equaliser when it was 3 -2,, but once they went four up it was game over. A last throw of the dice puting Olly back on failed to provide the attacking intent and WHC were smelling blood and more goals, which they got to make it 5.
