Moor Mead FC grace the pitch at Griffin Park

What a day at Griffin Park, as Moor Mead FC (U11s) got the chance to play at Championship club, Brentford FC’s stadium in a mini-tournament against Hanworth, Old Isleworthians & West London Youth. We arrived excitedly outside the famous ground for 9.00am, then squeezed into the extremely ‘snug’ first team changing rooms, only to find a resplendent white kit kindly given to us by sponsors Adidas.

After getting changed in the same place as internationals such as Alan Judge, James Tarkowski and Lasse Vibe had done many times before, the players walked down the tunnel into the sunlight of the stadium. Moor Mead were well supported by siblings and parents from the stands as the players ran across the hallowed turf under the shadow of the floodlights. Despite not being in our usual electric green, the boys performed admirably winning most of their games, and some were even pulled to the side to be interviewed in front of the cameras for Brentford TV. All in a days work for a professional, but a new and inspiring experience for our boys!!

Brentford FC were excellent hosts, and we are looking to do more with the Brentford Community Trust in the future
