Moor Mead U9 record first away win

A solid all-round performance from Athletic to keep up their unbeaten start to the season and whilst winning's not the most important thing, you may as well if you can. Epsom Falcons were a good side, and not small, which meant we had to compete fully for any 50/50 balls. William showed the way with full hearted display and won a super-high percentage of tackles (sky sports still to confirm stats). With 4 quarters of play our defence was solid for the first 2, with top defensive positional play and a no nonsense Orla-Teig partnership. Kiran moved the ball around well in midfield and there was good play all-round from both Athletic and the Falcons with both teams having periods of dominating the play. The first goal was proving elusive and after moving Sam into central defence for Q2, he ignored the plan, arrived on the edge of the Falcons area and finished smarty. Athletic went 2-0 through a great finish from William and we were looking comfortable. Our keepers in William, Daniel and Jake had been superb and were regularly out of their area to close the ball down to deny any easy shooting chances - Neuer-esque in their sweeper keeper styles of play. Falcons upped their game and came back to make it 2-1 and Kiran arrived at the far post with a great last ditch stop to deny an equalising goal. Sam scored to restore the gap to 2 but not for long as the Falcons replied with their 2nd. A final finish from William made it safe with the result 4-2. Or maybe William got the third and Sam got the 4th I can't really remember - but it was a tight game played in a good spirit and the Falcons were a dangerous team who I'm sure will be a regular oppo for the next 10 years. I've got to go to mow the lawn now so match report over :-) Up the Meads
